Living Futures Accreditation LFA

Living Futures Accreditation LFA

What is Living Future Accreditation (LFA)?

Living Future Accreditation (LFA) - a credential that reflects my commitment to the most ambitious standard of sustainable design in the building industry.

Beyond Green Building

The Living Future Accreditation is awarded by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI), the organization behind the Living Building Challenge - widely recognized as the world's most rigorous performance standard for buildings. While LEED and other certifications focus on reducing negative impact, the Living Future framework asks a different question: What if every building improved the health of its occupants and regenerated its environment?

What LFA Means for Our Practice

Earning LFA status means we've demonstrated deep expertise in:

  • Regenerative design principles: going beyond sustainability to create buildings that give back more than they take
  • Biophilic design: connecting occupants to nature through materiality, light, and spatial experience
  • Health and equity: prioritizing indoor air quality, daylighting, and accessibility in every project
  • Material transparency: specifying products that are safe for people and planet, with full supply chain accountability
  • Net-positive energy and water: designing buildings that produce more energy than they consume and manage water as a precious resource

Why It Matters

As an LFA professional, I bring a systems-thinking approach to every project — whether it's a Passive House renovation, a net-zero home, or a handcrafted lighting fixture. The accreditation isn't just a badge; it's a design ethos rooted in accountability, craft, and a belief that architecture should be a force for ecological and social good.

At Selesko Studio, performance and poetry aren't in tension — they're inseparable. LFA helps us ensure that every detail, from thermal bridging to timber joinery, serves both human experience and planetary health.
